A big thank you to the What’s In Walton team for asking Stagecoach Walton to feature in their exciting website launch!
We look forward to strengthening our ties with the local community and welcome any feedback you may have.
Stagecoach Walton has been training young people in Drama, Dance and Drama for over 25 years. Our school was one of the very first Stagecoach schools to open. In our time we have trained over 1000 youngsters in The performing Arts. You may well have passed The Old Courthouse where, until recently we have been based. Stagecoach Walton is now run from Groveland’s Primary School near The XL centre.
We are very proud of our past and excited about the future. Our Schools run on Friday, Saturday and Sundays during school term time. Students come along once a week for classes in Singing, Dancing and Drama.
Our primary goal is to give youngsters the skills of self-confidence and to provide a safe space to unlock all their creative potential.
For those wishing to take The performing Arts as a career we have specialist classes and performing opportunities. We offer a specialist class called Further Stages for 15-19 year olds whom we prepare for auditions for the top vocational schools and universities. Currently we have students at The Arts Educational, Brits, The London Studio centre, Guilford school of Acting, Laines ,Rose Bruford Bristol and Cambridge Universities to name a few. Many of our graduates work in The West End and on tour. A few of our teachers who were originally trained by us have returned to teach for us as professionals.
For those with a passion for dance we run a Boys Ballet and a Dance troupe. Tony Aiken runs the Boys Ballet classes alongside the Saturday School. His aim is to give boys the opportunity to train in an atmosphere not stigmatised by over feminisation with an emphasis on strength and agility. The boys are given the chance to take examinations with the world recognised ISTD exam board. Like Stagecoach, the boys are divided into classes by age. We now have boys in many West End shows: “Matilda”, “Gypsy” and “Les Miserables” to name a few. Currently boys range in age from 7 years old (grade1) to 17 (advanced).
Our dance troupe is made up of boys and girls who have a flare for dance. They train for two hours extra a week and showcase our school at events. Most recently they have performed at Her majesty’s theatre in the West End. Dance troupe have also performed at The Royal Albert hall, Saddlers Wells, Shaftsbury theatre, St Pauls cathedral and many smaller venues. The school and Troupe are always keen for more performing opportunities. Please get in touch if you would like us to come along to an event you are holding.
Whether its having the courage to stand up and talk in assembly or a performance in the West End we believe in creative courage for life for all. We look forward to training the next generation of performers as we have done with great pride for 25 year.
